Daphne Dress Day 3

We completed day 2 and our dress is nearly finished! Let’s add the ruffle!

Step 11

There are 2 separate skirt pieces. Join them both together.

Once again, make sure you are working on the side of the ruffle that is the bottom of the pattern. Notice the birds’ feet are pointing down.

You may pin this fold as well. I usually don’t because I press it really well. It’s up to you.

Never made a ruffle before? No worries! It is really very easy. Just adjust your machine to make a long stitch. Don’t backstitch. Sew all the way around the top of the ruffle with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Pull gently on one thread. I pull the bobbin (bottom) thread. Gently use your hands to work the gather around until the entire skirt is gathered and is the same width as the dress. Don’t trim your long thread you now have. You may trim it after you sew the ruffle on.

Pin right sides together! Remember to return your machine’s stitch to a normal length.

Voila! You’re done! How does it look? I want to see pictures! Don’t forget about the Flickr group.
