Linen and leather padfolio

Have you ever made a gift that you wanted to keep? I had a really hard time taking this one to the post office. I sewed this linen and leather padfolio for Heather from The Sewing Loft for a gift exchange. She's a pen and paper gal and this padfolio sewing pattern was just the thing for a legal pad, pen and some business cards. An all around great notepad cover pattern.

Pattern: Padfolio by Rachael from Imagine Gnats

The pattern does not include instructions for making leather corners. Here's what to do:

  1. Cut leather triangles.
  2. Sew leather on front corners.

Easy, right?

*can I just note that for some reason my stitches are SO crooked on this project and is no reflection of the pattern? It's actually a bit embarrassing. Don't look too close.

I used some more of my favorite Liberty fabric that I used on the hood of my wool cape and the embroidery hoop sewing kit. I can't get enough of this fabric.

I need to make one of these padfolios for me now. I love computers and smart phones but there's just something about writing down notes on paper.

Are you more of a paper or a computer note taker?

I love the linen and leather look, it’s gorgeous!
I’m a pen and paper girl too. I really can’t come around to doing it on the computer, I like that I can pick up my notebook or the random bits of paper where I’ve written down my thoughts and notes, and check them whenever I want/need.
I’m going to put this pattern on my ‘need’ list, it’s so cute and so practical
