Make This Look: a miniseries

I'm so excited to announce this month's miniseries! It's all about sewing for ourselves. I am always inspired by ready to wear outfits and ensembles I see on Pinterest and thought it would be so fun to have a Make This Look series. I've gathered 4 amazing seamstresses and bloggers and we'll start sharing on Tuesday!

Tuesday: Miriam from Madmim.com

Miriam is always inspiring. Mad-mim_shibori-bleach_envelope-clutch_2
She blogs mostly about sewing womenswear and childrenswear and she always does so well with the details. She uses different media to transform fabric into something unique and lovely.

You'll enjoy her envelope clutch where she used Shibori bleaching to make this beautiful effect on the fabric.

She also used bleach or paint to stamp roses, unicorns, or even camels.

I adore this little boy's wool suit jacket. Those elbow patches are the best.

She also co-lead the amazing Stretch Yourself series. I think this Lola Tunic was one of my favorites but this Drafting and Sewing a Maxi Skirt is a close second. And if you ever sew with knit you'll love this post about cutting knit fabric.

Wednesday: Justine from Sew Country Chick

Justine is an amazing seamstress who sews for herself and her girls. 1942 romper
She's always expanding her abilities and never ceases to amaze me! She hosts Sew & Tell on Saturday once a month so hop on over and link up.

I love this little walk down sewing memory lane, showing off how far she's come in the past few years. I can definitely relate to this! And I love this post where she shows off how they wear their handmades on a daily basis. They don't just sit in a closet somewhere.

And she loves to dabble in vintage patterns. This 1942 romper she made is darling, isn't it? And she doesn't care what people think of it. Perfect!

If you're looking for stylish children's patterns for this year, she's got a great list here. Be careful looking, you'll be adding on a few to your sewing list.

Thursday: Shannon from Little Kids Grow

Shannon is another talented seamstress. Knock-It-Off-Final
But she also blogs about parenting and you'll enjoy her Motivation Monday posts. One of my favorite facts about Shannon is that she was in an MC Hammer video back in the day. Isn't that fun?

She has a bunch of kiddos as well so you'll find her sewing a lot for them. This peek-a-boo button fly tutorial is something I haven't seen anywhere else. She was a recent contestant on Project Run & Play. I loved this vintage boy look. Everything was amazing.

Ever marvel at people who can sew slippery fabrics? She has a great post with tips for working with difficult fabrics like taffeta and organza. Or maybe you want to draft a collar. This tutorial is great! And one of my favorites, drafting a hood tutorial.

Friday: Vanessa from Designs by Sessa

Vanessa is yet another wonderful seamstress. Banksia
She sews for herself a lot as well as for her little boy. I love following her blog because she's always so positive and really shares a lot about herself. And she's in the process of adopting. Yay!

You'll really enjoy her lace washi tunic. And I'd never thought of sealing the ends of ric rac like this.

Her sweater mini skirt tutorial is fun. And she made matching flannel shirts for her husband and son. How cute are they?

But this chevron Banksia shirt is one of my favorites. Cute, right?

I can't wait to see what they all make!!
